Gifted Education

Lord Tweedsmuir’s Facilitator for Gifted Students is Nicole Calla. Please see her should you have questions about a specific student or if you would like to collaborate on supports for gifted students in your classes. Nicole is also in the process of building a library of resources for teachers and students. Please see the current list of books available at the bottom of this page.

Brilliant Behaviors Teacher Checklist
This is a helpful tool to use if you suspect a student may be gifted. The scale does not have to be used to observe a student completing a specific task, as the instructions suggest and can be used as a tool to assess behavior over a period of time.

Growth Mindset Feedback Tool
Some gifted students struggle with perfectionism and will avoid taking risks in their learning. This tool from Dr. Carol Dweck’s work on Growth Mindset may help teachers reframe students’ thinking about making mistakes and the learning process.
